The beginning of a new year is more than a reset — it’s an opportunity to move forward with intention and clarity. For accounting and bookkeeping professionals in Canada, this means looking ahead with professional growth in mind, while recognizing the communities and learning opportunities that make that growth possible.
As Piligrim Accounting steps into 2026, our focus is clear: deepen expertise, strengthen community, and champion practical, real-world knowledge sharing. What follows is a look at how we’re doing that — and how you can too.
Community as a Professional Asset
One of the strongest foundations entering 2026 is the closed professional community for Russian-speaking accountants and bookkeepers in Canada that I’ve been building with intention.
Growing to 569 members, this group is more than a number — it’s a space where professionals ask meaningful questions, discuss real cases, and support one another through challenges that are both technical and practical.
This kind of community mirrors what other professional bodies aim to cultivate. For example, Certified Professional Bookkeepers of Canada (CPB Canada) provides a national community platform, learning opportunities, and peer networking for bookkeepers across Canada.
Communities like these are essential because they help professionals stay connected, informed, and confident — especially when navigating the complexity of Canadian tax and accounting environments.

The Value of Language-Specific Professional Communities
Accounting and bookkeeping involve detailed technical language, and for many professionals, discussing these topics in a shared language helps unlock deeper understanding and confidence.
A professional community that respects linguistic and cultural context allows members to explore issues more freely, exchange insights, and build confidence in their technical judgment — all of which contribute to better outcomes for their clients and careers.
This inclusive approach resonates with broader professional development goals. National associations like CPA Canada emphasize lifelong learning, mentorship, and community support as critical elements of career progression for accountants and financial professionals.
In 2026, Piligrim Accounting’s community will continue growing in ways that help members share real-world experience and build collective expertise.
Education Built for Real Practice
Strong community engagement thrives alongside practical education.
Over the past year, I developed and delivered two core programs at Piligrim Accounting:
- T1 Personal Tax Course (Sept–Dec)
- Bookkeepers’ Intensive Program
Both were designed with one guiding principle: learning must directly support professional work.
Participants worked through real situations, discussed edge-case scenarios, and applied concepts they encounter in daily practice — not just theory. This is aligned with the goals of formal professional development platforms like CPA Ontario’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD), which helps accountants meet regulatory and career development requirements.
Education grounded in real-world context enables professionals to:
- Stay compliant with tax rules and best practices
- Expand confidence in technical judgment
- Apply learning directly to client and business work
These benefits will remain the core of how Piligrim Accounting structures future programs in 2026.
Interactive Learning and Shared Experience
Beyond structured courses, one of the most impactful forms of learning is interactive engagement.
Through webinars and online discussions hosted this past year, the greatest value often came not from slides, but from the dialogue between professionals — sharing how they approached a particular issue, what worked, and what didn’t.
This kind of peer-to-peer insight helps build what formal organizations strive for in their own development events. Institutions such as CPB Canada offer workshops and seminars where professionals can deepen technical skills while connecting with peers.
In 2026, fostering more opportunities for two-way learning and shared experience will remain a top priority.
In-Person Connection Still Matters
While digital learning and communities are powerful, face-to-face engagement continues to be invaluable.
Last year, I had the honor of facilitating regional in-person events in Ontario for a professional accounting association and speaking at a Canada-wide Autumn Premium event alongside respected peers.
These experiences highlighted how personal interaction enhances:
- Professional relationships
- Knowledge transfer
- Motivational energy
Industry gatherings like Accountex Canada (a leading accounting and bookkeeping conference) bring professionals together to share ideas, trends, and practical insights. These kinds of events reinforce that professional connection goes beyond online interaction and directly contributes to growth.
What We’re Focusing on in 2026
Rather than treating the new year as a reset, 2026 is about building forward from what works:
Strengthening the Professional Community
Providing more structured discussions and targeted topics so members can advance their knowledge collaboratively.
Expanding Practical Education
Creating programs and courses that reflect real challenges faced by accountants and bookkeepers in Canada.
Creating More Dialogue Opportunities
Hosting events — both digital and in person — where professionals can exchange experiences and sharpen their skills.
Supporting Professional Confidence
Not just increasing technical knowledge, but helping professionals build confidence in judgment, decision-making, and client communication.
These initiatives are about supporting careers, not just compliance — and that approach will define Piligrim Accounting’s contributions in 2026.

Professional Growth Is a Shared Effort
One clear lesson as we enter 2026 is that professional growth does not happen in isolation.
It happens through:
- Conversation
- Mentorship
- Community support
- Continuous learning
This aligns with wider industry perspectives that emphasize the role of community and professional development in sustaining a vibrant accounting profession. Organizations like CPA Canada offer resources and professional development programs that reflect this reality.
Piligrim Accounting’s community and program offerings are built with the same philosophy — growth through collective effort.
An Open Invitation for the Year Ahead
As we look forward to a meaningful 2026, I remain committed to connection, collaboration, and shared learning.
If you are a Russian-speaking accountant or bookkeeper in Canada looking to:
- Exchange experience
- Expand your professional network
- Be part of a supportive learning community
I’d be happy to connect.
